I can't say that I've seen a more kick-ass retro boombox than the Thumper. The dangerous minds at Cool Provisions have been churning out these rechargeable vintage suitcase boombox creations for quite some time now.
Although they start at around $490 and work their up to $1,600 dollars a piece ? these one-of-a-kind traveling speakers are constantly selling out. It must be because they're so damn cool.
Most Thumpers come equipped with volume, bass and treble controls mounted along the side and deliver around 8 hours of playtime after a recharge.
The bulk of these hand-crafted speakers created by David Preiss and Javier Santana ? date back from the 1920s to the late 1960s which gives them that classic rock swagger. Imagine the stories they would tell if they could only talk.
While a cable is typically used to connect an iPhone 5 or iPod ? but a bluetooth adapter can be used to wirelessly stream your music and any Thumper can be transformed into a guitar amp by using the iRig adapter which is sold separately for around $40 bucks.
