The Calgary Herald is running a series of articles entitled ?Battle Scars: Rebuilding After Breast Cancer? which focuses on the psychological trauma faced by women who have fought and won against breast cancer.
Former MP Belinda Stronach chose to have a mastectomy in Canada, then travelled to California for the reconstructive surgery. ?It was quite different than any other option that I was given in Canada,? she said. ?It meant I could have the reconstruction at the same time, and important to me was I could keep my nipple.?
It is inhumane to expect women to live with disfigurement for years after battling breast cancer. Healing is a unified force of the physical, mental and emotional. Solutions need to be offered and provided in a timely manner to support whole body healing.
To find out if there are options available that you haven?t been made aware of, contact International Health Care Providers today. We offer a range of services for those looking for options above and beyond what?s offered in Canada, including breast reconstruction.
