My kids are leaving tomorrow morning... - Adoption.com Forums

HUGS!!!

my first placement (2 sisters) were with us for 2 years, when they left, I felt my family was broken up..because THEY were family too... birthdays, christmas, thanksgiving, all those pictures with the girls BUT, I also knew that they are OK being home, even though it took so long, that's where they belonged.

their counselor always said to me: protect your heart!! and I learned to do just that, to a point....

after my 1. placement we had others, and it became better... some I missed, some I was glad they are gone, and one I thought I couldn't breath when she left! I loved her soooo sooo much.

and THEN my STAS son came 2 days old, right out of the hospital... and 4 1/2 month later my FD, who also will be my STAD soon, came, and my house was FULL!!! lol

I still think of the others. But the pain goes away with time. I hope they are doing good, they will always have a place in my heart, even though I didn't 'love' all of them, but I CARED for all of them, even the ones I was GLAD when they left...

so my advise to you is: protect your heart, at least a little. Foster care is NOT easy!!
but also, if you want to adopt, make sure you TELL the CW's and everybody else you speak to that you want to adopt!!!!
that's what we did, I basically 'pestered' them, lol and once word got out, and they knew who we are, they placed the first available baby, that looked like it's going for adoption with us <<<< my STAS
