(Commerce City, CO) -?On July 1, 2011, Atlas Copco?s Portable Air Division became Portable Energy, and the division was made part of the newly created Atlas Copco Construction Technique business area. The organizational changes reflect the switch in the division?s emphasis from just compressors to a wide range of solutions geared to the needs of the construction industry.
These solutions for the construction industry fit into five general areas which the company refers to as the ?five pillars? of the Portable Energy division: Air (on-site compressors), Power (on-site generators), Light (on-site light towers), Water (on-site pumps) and Used Equipment.
The goal of the re-organization is to extend the division?s capability to meet customer demand for a wide range of portable construction equipment with the energy-efficiency and reliability for which Atlas Copco is known.
Seventy percent of Portable Energy customers are also customers of the Construction Tools division. These customers now have one main point of contact within Atlas Copco?s Construction Technique business area. ?We expect this will lead to a significant improvement in the level of customer focus and satisfaction,? said Mark Taylor, vice-president and business line manager of Portable Energy USA.
New to the Portable Energy portfolio in the United States are WEDA de-watering pumps. WEDA pumps are designed for an extensive range of dewatering applications in the rental, construction and mining industries, among others.
In the fall of 2011, Atlas Copco Portable Energy introduced its Used Equipment program, which offers Atlas Copco-branded pre-owned and refurbished portable compressors and generators.
Atlas Copco has a history in portable compressors that dates back to 1907. In 1986, portable generators were added to the product portfolio. Atlas Copco currently has a worldwide portable generator presence with the Atlas Copco, Gesan, and other brands. Atlas Copco Portable Energy now also markets on-site light towers and pumps under Atlas Copco, Gesan and other brand names.
